It takes strong commitment to build a reputation as an ethical employer. A solid reputation as an ethical employer does not happen on its own without planning and dedication from employees at all levels within an organization.   Ethics-conscious business owners put comprehensive ethics programs in place and display a sound commitment to ethics in every area of business, from the front line to the board room; including human resources.

Human Resources functions as a key source of ethical awareness for managers and employees. While this may seem like a large task, HR professionals that maintain strong ethical standards and strive for a consistent work environment will gain employee confidence and attract new candidates. How business is conducted on the inside of the company is oftentimes known throughout the community and beyond (especially when it is not so above-board).

Ethics-conscious organizations are becoming more important to candidates, vendors, and customers. Lead by example in your organization to create a culture of mutual respect and dignity, where ethical decision-making is valued and rewarded. There are many ways that ethics in the workplace are challenged.  Explore techniques that can assist in building a culture where everyone knows what ethics are and knows what to do when ethical standards are being challenged.
