1. Cville SHRM Local Membership
Thank you for your interest in the Charlottesville Society of Human Resource Management, an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Our chapter was chartered in 1959 and is one of the oldest in the country! Our mission is to engage our members, advance the profession, and provide leadership in the community through sharing and promoting best practices in human resource management.
Charlottesville SHRM strives:
- To be a recognized community leader in human resources management;
- To provide high quality, dynamic, and responsible programs and services to our members and community;
- To be the voice of the profession on human resource management issues;
- To facilitate the development and guide the direction of the human resources profession
Membership Dues
Annual Membership: $45/year (pay for meetings separately) Annual Membership + Meetings: $185/year (Includes registration fees for all monthly membership meetings, not including the Annual Conference) Member single meeting Registration: $20 per Meeting Memberships renew on a rolling year basis.
Memberships are individually based and are not transferable.
Membership Categories
Charlottesville SHRM offers several membership categories, based on the SHRM national association membership definitions. Please read the descriptions carefully and pick the appropriate category. Professional Membership Professional members are allowed voting rights and may hold office. Responsible for administering human resource functions at least 75% of the time. Has at least (3) years’ experience in human resource management and meets one of the following criteria:
- Possesses at least three (3) years of exempt-level human resource management experience
- Is certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute (either PHR or SPHR certification)
- Is a faculty member holding an assistant, associate or full professional rank in human resource management or any of its specialized functions at an accredited college or university and has at least three (3) years of experience at this level of teaching
- Is a full-time consultant with at least three (3) years’ experience as a practitioner in human resource management
General Membership
Engaged in the profession of human resource management in exempt positions but do not meet the requirements of Professional membership. General members are allowed voting rights, but may not hold office.
Associate Membership Associate individuals in non-exempt human resource management positions as well as those who do not meet any of the foregoing categories, but have a bona fide interest in human resource management. Associate members are not allowed voting rights and may not hold office.
Student Membership Persons who are students and members of a student chapter affiliated with SHRM. Student members are not allowed voting rights and may not hold office.
