             In this interactive session, we will look at recent legal developments that impact HR professionals, including recent decisions from the courts on employment law issues, new and pending legislation, and the enforcement priorities of various federal agencies to enable you to help your company keep up with the changing times.

Speakers BIO:

Randy C. Sparks, Jr. / Kaufman & Canoles, P.C.

Randy Sparks is a labor and employment attorney with the Kaufman & Canoles.  He is the Co-Chair of the firm’s Government and Municipal Law Practice Group and serves on the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.  He concentrates his practice on the representation of employers of all sizes and industries in all types of work-related matters before the state and federal courts and administrative agencies in Virginia, DC, and Maryland and in arbitration proceedings.  As part of his practice, Randy regularly advises and trains clients on lawful employment practices and other workplace issues. Randy has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America since 2010, has been named a Virginia Super Lawyer for Employee Litigation Defense since 2015, and was recently recognized as one of Virginia’s Legal Elite in Labor/Employment Law for 2019 by Virginia Business Magazine.  He is an active member and Legislative Affairs Representative of the Fredericksburg Regional chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management and a frequent speaker at the Virginia SHRM State Conference – he will be presenting two sessions at the upcoming 2020 conference -- and SHRM chapters around Virginia.  Outside of his law practice, Randy serves on the Board of Directors for Gwyneth’s Gift Foundation, Stafford Soccer club, and the Virginia Retail Merchants Association.  Randy graduated from the University of Virginia and the College of William & Mary School of Law.
